The
procedures for handling oxygen and the blending of breathing gases are among
the topics covered in this intensive and informative program. This program was
developed by engineers who have specialized in the design of gas distribution
systems and the handling of high pressure oxygen. As the demand by the diving
community for gasses other than air continue to increase, the progressive dispensing
facility must elevate their level of training and education. ANDI Certified
Gas Blenders are a fundamental part of the ANDI facility and are certified to
operate and maintain breathing gas production equipment for mixed gas breathing
applications. The handling and production of oxygen and SafeAir are covered
with an option to include tri-mix. This course consists of 8 - 10 hours of lecture
and discussion & 4 - 6 hours of practical hands-on experience.
Service Technician - CST
The
responsibility for all oxygen cleaning and maintenance of cylinders, valves,
regulators, high pressure components, high pressure hoses, fittings and gas
production equipment at the ANDI facility come under the responsibility of the
ANDI Certified Service Technicians. ANDI Certified Service Technicians are authorized
to service and maintain breathing gas delivery systems in accordance with equipment
manufacturer recommendations and ANDI guidelines. The Certified Service Technician
is a fundamental part of the ANDI facility, and as such, are required to meet
the required quality and safety standards.
The CST program consists of 8 -12 hours lecture and discussion and 6 - 8 hours
of practical hands-on experience.
NOTE: Each of these courses is typically
a 2-day course. However, if they taken together they can be covered in a 3-day
period.

Rebreather
Instructor Trainer - (L1 - L5)
Prerequisite:
OW certification. An introductory training program offering the participant
the opportunity to experience the sensation of "silent scuba" as well
as to become acquainted with the technology of closed-circuit Rebreathers. This
is an "experience" program and does not certify one as a "User".
The certificate requires the holder to dive with a product-specifically certified
Rebreather instructor. The format consists of an explanation of the concepts,
components and principles of operation. In addition to the 2-hour lecture, there
is included a practical dive conducted in either a confined environment or controlled
"open water" environment. This 4-5 hour introduction is available
to all levels of "open water certified" divers.
Rebreather Diver - ( CCR, Level 2 )
Prerequisites:
OW certification +50 Logged Dives. This is a complete program which enables
the certified diver to crossover to this superior electronic technology. Structured
for recreational scuba applications, this training and associated product limits
the user to 40 MSW (130 FSW) and "no-stop-required" profiles. The
breathing media is SafeAir (Enriched-Air Nitrox) and therefore, this course
encompasses the basic concepts of SafeAir. This training is available to all
certified divers. This 3-part format consists of 18 hours of lecture, 4 hours
of confined environment training and 4 open water dives conducted under direct
instructor supervision. The total accrued bottom time for this course must be
not less than 150 minutes.
Rebreather Diver - ( SCR, Level 2 )
Prerequisites:
OW certification + CSU (or equivalent) certification + 50 Logged Dives. This
is a complete program which enables the certified diver to crossover to this
improved technology. Structured for recreational scuba applications, this training
and associated product limits the user to 40 MSW ( 130 FSW ) and "no-stop-required"
profiles. The breathing media of choice is EAN (Enriched-Air Nitrox). This training
is available to those certified divers holding certification as CSU level 2
or equivalent, i.e. ANDI's Complete SafeAir User (CSU). This 3-part format consists
of 12 hours of lecture, 3 hours of confined environment training and 4 open
water dives conducted under direct instructor supervision. Total accrued bottom
for this course must be not less than 150 minutes.
Technical Rebreather Diver - ( TRD, Level 3 )
Prerequisites:
TSD certification + Level 2 SCR or CCR certification + 100 Logged Dives. This
program expands upon the Level 2 training. The associated equipment offers the
opportunity to descend to greater depth and manage the associated additional
decompression obligation and therefore, requires more extensive training. The
electronically-controlled system used is diver-interactive and incorporates
a P.C. interface. This is an "advanced" program and extends the user's
limitations to 50 msw ( 165 fsw ) and ceilings of 9 msw (30 fsw). The breathing
media may be either Heli-Ox (He/O2) or EAN (Enriched Air Nitrox). This course
augments both the SCR and CCR Level 2 programs and may be taken in conjunction
with the TSD course. The complete Level 3 Rebreather course consists of 3 parts:
16 hours of lecture, 2 hours of confined environment training and 4 open water
dives conducted under both direct and indirect instructor supervision. Total
accrued bottom time for this program is not less than 150 minutes. If taken
in conjunction with the TSD course, the total accrued bottom time must not be
less than 300 minutes.
Rebreather Explorer - ( ERE, Level 5 )
Prerequisites: TSD certification + Level 3 TRD certification
+ 200 Logged Dives ( including 25 technical dives). This program teaches the
high degree of diver interaction required to use this configuration. While not
a fully automatic Rebreather, the "Semi-Closed-Circuit Explorer" Rebreather
is operational to 100 MSW. The limitations are determined by the gases carried.
This training is focused on "mission-oriented operations" and therefore
limited to only those candidates possessing the highest level of water skills
and diving expertise. Extended-range diving techniques are covered in detail
as well as the selection and use of alternate breathing gases. Care and maintenance
of the "Semi-Closed Circuit Explorer" Rebreather is included in this
program. Additional service technician training is not required but is strongly
encouraged in order to support the required equipment maintenance for mission-oriented
exploration. This course builds upon the Level 3 TRD program and therefore may
be taken in conjunction with the TRD course. The ERE Level 5 course consists
of 3 parts : 20 hours of lecture, 4 hours of confined environment training and
6 open water dives conducted under both direct and indirect instructor supervision.
Total accrued bottom time for this program is not less than 240 minutes.
